From the director's desk
Happy March to all of our wonderful families. We will begin this month with Dr. Suess Day on March 2, when we will read the book, then enjoy eating green eggs and ham. We’ll use all of our senses to celebrate Dr. Suess! We’ll also revel in St. Patrick’s Day festivities on March 17, learn how palm leaves paved the way for Jesus on March 29, then begin preparations for our school-wide Easter egg hunt in April.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of our families for sharing your children with us. They make us smile every day, and we are so blessed they are part of our St. Thomas Preschool and Kindergarten!
For the children,
Miss Sandi

March is here already!
Little ones will be kicking off the month by celebrating Dr.Seuss' birthday. We will be having fun reading his books and dressing wacky. Then we will continue our reading exploration with fun stories like, If you Give a Moose a Muffin, by Laura Numeroff and The Little Red Hen by Byron Barton. We will be expanding these fun stories, and many others, with mini cooking projects. Little ones will be having fun celebrating St.Patrick's Day and the arrival of spring. Last but not least, I would like to send a warm welcome to all our new Care Bears that have joined our class. We are so very blessed to have you. This month's concepts are: color - green, shape - diamond and number- 3, bible concept - God provides for my needs.

busy bees
Welcome March!
Did March come in as a lamb or lion? We will find out as we begin the month with March Winds. We will be silly as Dr. Seuss is on the loose in our room. We will learn about St. Patrick’s Day, rainbows, Noah’s Ark and spring. Wow! Those are just a few thing we will be doing. It’s all a buzz in our hive!
Bella Bee has begun to go home and we've enjoyed reading about her adventures.
Each child will have the opportunity to take her home. They can hardly wait their turn!
We continue to do letter shapes and numeral activities. The children like to do the alphabet march, they freeze when the bell rings, they pick a letter up and tell me what they have. They also enjoy who has ___ (I name a letter) or they have to hunt for a letter around the classroom. The children also like to count objects how many boys or girls came today,
Counting hearts, dinosaurs etc. and reciting the numbers on the calendar (recognizing the numerals.) They enjoy these activities so much they ask if they can do it over again.
Happy spring!

Super stars
Spring is in the air in the Super Star room. This month brings many fun events! We will be learning about leprechauns and where to find Ireland on the map. We will learn all about spring and the new life that comes during the season. The animals that have been hibernating in our “cave” will come out and help us celebrate the first day of spring and our classroom Friend: “Mr. Bear” by having a Birthday Party for him. During the month of March we will be doing developmental testing on each child, so be looking for the sign ups for parent conference coming at the end of March. Will March come in as a lion or a lamb?

kindergarten
We had a few days of real winter with snow! Now we will be anticipating spring, already this month. We begin the month by celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday with fun activities and of course reading his books. Do you like green eggs and ham? Well, we will get a chance to try them! Then we will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day by wearing, making art, and maybe even eating GREEN! The end of the month we will talk about the changes in weather that spring brings.
The class has come a long way in the last few months in reading, writing and math. Their printing is great and they like to make up their own sentences. They are conquering the phonics skill of reading long vowel words. Encourage reading at home to reinforce what they are learning. A few minutes each day can make a big difference.
The Bible verse this month goes along with our character trait of "Friendliness": "A friend loves at all times." Proverbs 17:17. The slogan is "A friend who cares likes to share."
Next month, it will be Easter already! The school year is flying by so fast
God bless,
Mrs. Hogan
